Because the property's zoning was changed in 1995 to permit contractor uses, the change in specified use for a faith-based outreach requires council review, Shepherd said. Council members asked clarifying questions about whether food distribution would be involved; Shepherd said any food would likely be non-perishable canned goods and that no cooking would occur on-site.
Council did not take a final vote on a zoning change during the discussion recorded in the transcript. The item was presented to council and will proceed through the normal legislative process for land-use and zoning approvals.
