Oscoda County board renews employee plans with Acrisure and adopts PA 152 opt-out for 2026

The Oscoda County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 28 voted unanimously to renew employee health and benefit plans with Acrisure and to adopt a resolution opting out of Public Act 152 for 2026.
During the meeting Jennifer Wanstead, an Acrisure account executive joining by Zoom, presented plan performance and the recommended renewal of medical, dental, vision and life insurance. On a motion by Commissioner Tom McCauley, seconded by Commissioner Ted Handrich, the board authorized the renewal to take effect Jan. 1, 2026 (motion 2025-306). The roll call vote was 5-0 in favor.
The board then adopted Resolution 2025-014 to opt out of PA 152 for 2026 (motion 2025-307). Chair Charles E. Varner recorded the unanimous roll call in support of both actions.
Why it matters: Opting out of PA 152 allows the county to continue its chosen health plan funding approach for 2026 rather than the statutorily described default limits. The board recorded the formal motions and votes; the meeting minutes do not include detailed plan cost figures or changes to employee premiums.
