Scofield Town Council voted March 9, 2026 to adopt a ServLine water-service insurance offering for utility customers after reviewing program details, with one councilor opposing the adoption.
Councilors heard that ServLine’s enrollment will be billed monthly (customers may opt out before the first bill), the program includes a 30-day waiting period before coverage takes effect, and the vendor’s standard policy covers meters up to 2 inches; a separate water-line repair coverage is offered as an additional option. The claim process described in the presentation requires customers to show a receipt proving a repair so ServLine can reimburse the town, which then applies the payment to the customer’s account. ServLine’s materials said commercial customers are eligible and that no pre-inspections or qualifications are required.
Brad Peacock moved to adopt the ServLine program; Ralph Brinkerhoff seconded. Councilor Kim Erikkila registered that she was not in favor. The motion carried.
The presentation materials will be distributed to customers ahead of billing so residents can opt out if they choose. The council did not specify a commencement date in the March 9 discussion.
