Larimer County honors inspector who helped extinguish roadside grass fire

Rebecca Everett, Larimer County's community development director, recognized building inspector Pete Croak at the April 13 work session for helping contain a roadside grass fire on Feb. 24.
"Pete pulled over, tried to warn some of the neighbors...and started throwing dirt on it," Croak said, describing how he and a nearby construction crew used shovels to control the blaze until firefighters arrived. Everett said the crew's quick action likely prevented more significant property damage.
Commissioners praised Croak's initiative and the character he demonstrated. Rebecca Everett also noted Jason Mossman's role as lead building inspector and highlighted his recent promotion.
The board closed the recognition portion of the meeting and staff moved on to a brief administrative update about a 3 p.m. land-use hearing and two consent-agenda items.
