The Troy Zoning Board of Appeals on March 4 tabled a variance application for 31 Christie Street until the applicant produces "bona fide legal and recent proofs of residency," the board said. The board said accessory‑use relief can be granted only to an owner who resides at the premises.
"Examples of what we'd like to see are document based evidence showing a consistent address, which would include a valid New York State driver's license, New York State income tax return, a voter registration card recently issued," the chair said, listing documents the board would accept. Staff added that a utility bill, car registration or other official government documents showing the address would be useful.
A board member moved to table PLZBA20260006 pending receipt of documented evidence of residence; the motion was seconded and the board voted to table the item. Board staff told the applicant to update the city's property card if the owner currently has a different address on file.
Elizabeth Rodriguez, the architect who said she represents the applicant in an upcoming item, told the board: "We'll work with him to make sure that happens before we come back." Rodriguez identified herself as an architect with Troy Architecture Practice PLLC.
The board indicated it will return the item to the agenda after staff receives the requested proofs of residency and any amended filings from the applicant.
