Commissioners at the June 5 Adelanto Planning Commission meeting confirmed a special meeting set for June 20 and discussed local outreach to food-truck operators after county organizers held an event in Victorville.
Commissioner Barbecue Joe proposed asking county organizers and the mayor to invite the county back to host a food-truck education event exclusively for Adelanto — possibly held at a park or City Hall — to reach operators who do not read English or Spanish. "I was wondering if I can, send a recommendation...to Pro Tip and Mayor to see if we can maybe call the county back up and have it exclusively just for City of Adelanto," he said.
Staff and commissioners clarified that food trucks must have property-owner consent to park on private parcels and must obtain health permits, insurance and a business license. Commissioners suggested outreach through mailings or utility-bill notices and asked staff to coordinate with the city manager about possible next steps.
The commission also had no Parks and Recreation business to report, and Chair Wagner thanked city departments for their work and mentioned anticipated housing items that staff had briefed him on. The meeting adjourned after a motion to close.
