Chief (called by council as Chief Bauer in the meeting) outlined a multi‑part selection process for the sergeant vacancy and recommended Officer Jack Breitbach for promotion. The recruitment included written scenario responses, panels, community interviews and a half‑day leadership assessment.
Officer Breitbach was identified as the top candidate. The chief said the recommended appointment date is Aug. 11, 2025 and cited a pay rate in the sergeant contract of $48.23 per hour. Council members voiced support and the council approved the promotion by voice vote.
Council and the chief said they will arrange a swearing‑in ceremony at a future meeting to allow the officer’s family to attend.
