The South Charleston City Council approved a time‑sensitive resolution authorizing the sale of a city‑owned parcel used for parking near an apartment complex after staff told the council the buyer was scheduled to close before the next meeting and requested expedited action.
The presiding chair explained the parcel had been leased in 1985 and that staff and counsel had approved the assignment needed to proceed. The chair said the request was placed on the agenda because the buyer was scheduled to close prior to the next council meeting and had asked the city to act earlier.
A motion to approve the sale resolution was made, seconded and approved by voice vote with councilors saying 'aye.' Council members had no further questions on the record during this portion of the meeting.
The council did not record the buyer's name or the sale price on the public transcript; staff said details would be handled in follow‑up paperwork.
