Beach Haven honors Nancy T. Davis with proclamation marking 14 years of service

The Beach Haven Borough Council presented a proclamation on Dec. 9 honoring Nancy T. Davis for 14 years of service to the borough, including two terms as mayor and long-standing involvement in local projects.

The proclamation, read into the record by meeting staff, detailed Davis’s academic career at Stockton University and her civic work, citing leadership on dune planting, water-utility upgrades, the Beach Haven School pocket park and efforts to help save the Surflight Theatre. ‘‘Now, therefore, I, Catherine Snyder, council president of the Borough of Beach Haven, on behalf of the borough council and citizens of Beach Haven, do celebrate Nancy T. Davis’ legacy and extend a heartfelt thanks for her contributions,’’ the proclamation said.

Responding to the proclamation, Nancy T. Davis thanked colleagues and residents and described her tenure as ‘‘a team effort’’ during a 14-year run on council. ‘‘I’ve had great people to work with, staff, as well as council,’’ Davis said. Former councilmember Jim White, joining by Zoom, recalled the council’s early years, the town’s recovery after Superstorm Sandy and Davis’s role in securing grants and local improvements.

Several council members offered brief tributes during the meeting. One colleague said Davis ‘‘never brushes anyone off’’ and praised her leadership and mentorship; another highlighted Davis’s work on the town’s water system and community amenities.

The council recessed for a closed session later in the meeting and returned to take up other agenda business. The recognition concluded with applause and public thanks. The borough will formally swear in newly elected members at the Jan. 2 reorganization meeting.
