Mount Pleasant delays decision on including Contoy Arena in recreation impact-fee study

The decision to defer came after councilors discussed how including the arena could alter the study's calculations and potential fee amounts. Councilman Rondy G. Black and other members expressed interest in seeing comparison data and background analysis before taking a position.
Sunrise Engineering will return with the requested comparison data, and Ben Coray said he will coordinate a follow-up meeting with city staff members Stephanie Blain and Justin Atkinson to review the analysis. No formal motion or vote occurred at the work session.
The next scheduled step is the presentation of the financial analysis at a future meeting so the council can consider whether the Contoy Arena should be part of the impact-fee methodology.
