St. Joseph County accepts $88.3 million in reimbursements, approves appropriation resolution

The St. Joseph County Commission on April [date not specified] heard a monthly financial report showing large reimbursements tied to an ongoing project and approved a resolution to appropriate those dollars.

Finance staff said the county’s first-quarter reports show receipts and expenditures to date and reported reimbursements of $25,000,000 to account 4301 and $5,000,840 to account 4302, and a total reimbursement to date of $88,335,560.31 since the project began. “I would note that in 43 0 1, we have received about 25,000,000 in reimbursement from Amazon and in 43 0 2, another 5,000,840,” the finance staff member said.

The staff member presented resolution “20 26 dash o 6,” described as an appropriation resolution to recognize reimbursements already received and amounts expected on April 19, and asked the commission to approve it. Chair called for a motion; the motion was moved and seconded and the clerk recorded ayes from Mister Fox, Mister Brown and Mister Jordan. The clerk announced the motion carried.

The approval allows county staff to record and spend the reimbursements as appropriated under the resolution. The finance staff offered to answer any questions on the financial reports; none were raised during the meeting.

The commission did not receive any public comment on the appropriation at the meeting. The meeting moved on to other business and later adjourned.
