Millis Select Board backs $48.6M FY27 budget, approves stipend and seasonal-wage increases

The Select Board voted unanimously on April 13 to recommend the town administrator’s proposed FY27 budget to the finance committee after a presentation from the finance director.
"You will see our gross revenue number at the bottom of $48,637,090," the finance director said while outlining revenues and the breakdown across town and school budgets.
As part of the warrant review, the board approved two personnel-plan changes: increasing the zoning board of appeals assistant stipend from $4,500 to $5,000 and raising the DPW seasonal-worker hourly rate from $15 to $20 to improve recruitment for physically demanding roles. The changes were advanced as part of the recommended personnel plan for FY27 and passed by unanimous vote.
Board members asked clarifying questions about how certain costs were reallocated on the expense side — for example, a $35,000 transfer of audit costs into the finance director’s budget — and the finance director provided a crosswalk and said enterprise budgets were balanced. The police budget discussion noted the inclusion of 1 additional officer, a promotion, and retention of a school resource officer in the personnel line.
