Student representative Sabol told the board that winter sports seasons are underway and that Sabol and Newman are collaborating on a freshmen survey to check how first-year students are doing. The comments were delivered during the student representative report at the Dec. 15 meeting.
Separately, the board reviewed survey results and draft academic calendars for 2027-2029. Drafts presented included options for a before-Labor-Day start for 2027-28 and an after-Labor-Day start for 2028-29; the board recorded a recommendation consistent with that split. Administration noted that academic calendar approval will be placed on the agenda as an action item for the Jan. regular meeting.
