Open Space Committee readies CPA-backed articles and proposes June meeting date

At its March 23 meeting the Town of Northborough Open Space Committee reviewed Community Preservation Act (CPA) applications it has supported for the upcoming Town Meeting and discussed scheduling for future committee meetings.
The Chair listed the three primary CPA applications: restoring windows at the historic society building, rehabilitating Milliken Ball Field (softball and baseball fields behind the school), and downtown Blake Street revitalization work including park plantings, parking repairs and drainage improvements. He said the select board has been receptive and that CPA reserves plus expected new revenue should cover the projects while leaving reserves intact.
Committee members noted a mock town meeting scheduled for April 13 at the senior center and that the Northborough Media Group will create a video presentation to support the warrant articles. For scheduling, the Chair proposed September 1 as the next meeting date (editor’s note: the committee actually proposed June 1 at 7:30 p.m. after confirming Memorial Day conflicts), and members agreed to poll the full committee about availability.
The committee concluded the meeting by moving to adjourn and taking a roll-call vote.
