The Sparks Redevelopment Agency on April 13 approved a professional services contract (ACSRA‑335) with Van Wert Bugatti Architects for design of a new Sparks City Hall, totaling $3,725,000.
Brian Cason, capital projects manager, explained the current city hall was built in 1969 and is functionally constrained; the new project is funded with tax‑increment dollars restricted to redevelopment uses. The contract includes Phase 1 programming/space planning ($125,000) and Phase 2 final design ($3.6 million). The agency authorized the contract and staff said a CMAR selection process will begin concurrently with design.
Representatives from Van Wert Bugatti, including Angela Begode, introduced themselves and said they view city hall as a civic landmark and gathering place. The agency approved the contract unanimously.
