Assistant City Manager Lisonbee McCormick said the electrical agreement includes new provisions requiring NV Energy to repair infrastructure it damages within 21 days of city notice and to pay $50 per day if repairs are not completed within 30 days. The agreement also requires quarterly franchise fee reporting and establishes a joint effort to convert the city's streetlights to LEDs with a target completion date of Dec. 31, 2028.
Ryan Bellows, vice president and general counsel for NV Energy, thanked the city for the long partnership and said NV Energy will provide maps and reporting as requested. He also acknowledged past shortcomings on timely streetlight repairs and said the company will work to improve performance and reporting.
Council members raised the issue of streetlight repair timelines and data transparency; NV Energy agreed to provide maps and reports and to work with the city to improve tracking. Both the electrical (AC6190) and gas (AC6188) franchise agreements were approved after the required public hearings.
