The minutes record a claims and audit docket for $47,730.31 submitted by the County Clerk’s Office.
The Treasurer requested two new budget lines: Trust & Agency line 701-000-228.48 for a DNR assessment and Special Fund line 265-301-714.00 for a School Safety Crossing Guard. IT/Government Administration requested a $20,000 increase to budget line 101-258-806.00; the board approved the amendments as part of the consent items.
On appointments and personnel, commissioners McCauley and Bondar moved to appoint Denise Rooker to the Department of Human & Health Services Board for a three-year term from Oct. 1, 2025 through Sept. 30, 2028; the motion passed on a roll call vote. The board also amended a prior motion to acknowledge the hiring of Cynthia Light as Youth Liaison Officer (hire date Oct. 21, 2025) and her resignation effective Oct. 23, 2025.
The board authorized updates to the Symetra 457 Plan signers, naming Libby Marsh-Shephard, Jennifer Cronkright and Michelle Knepp as authorized signers, with Michelle Knepp designated as Plan Administrator. The Finance Committee was authorized to approve bills during the week of Dec. 28, 2025 so payments can be issued before year-end.
Veterans Affairs staffing changes were acknowledged: the board accepted the resignation of Lucy Lloyd as a part-time Veterans Service Officer effective Nov. 29, 2025.
On county property and infrastructure, the board approved several Airport Construction Projects for the Dennis Kauffman Memorial Airport: purchase of an 8x8 gable barn from NorthStar Storage Barns LLC for $3,100; award of a well installation quote (check payable to Hartsig Supply Company) via A&A Edwards Well Drilling LLC for $10,500; and a contract with Morse Concrete & Excavating Inc for septic field and tank installation for $3,500. The board also accepted an offer from Larry Diller to perform volunteer work on the airport bathroom project. All airport-related motions passed on roll call votes.
Contract renewals included a multi-year agreement with Mid-Michigan Medical Examiner Group LLC (Dr. Paul A. Wagner, D.O.) to serve as Oscoda County Medical Examiner from Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2030. The contract includes a 2% increase ($757), bringing the total to $23,753, to be paid from the Health/Welfare budget line. The board also renewed its agreement with Elk Country Animal Shelter for calendar year 2026 and authorized the chairman to sign.
