Summary
Rep. French Hill said the committee has requested a Treasury brief and held roundtables on artificial intelligence; he suggested regulatory sandboxes and said the panel will continue hearings to assess risks from products such as Mythos and Claude.
Rep. French Hill said the House Financial Services Committee has expressed concern about large-language models and related products, requested a briefing from the Treasury Department, and is pursuing hearings and roundtables to better understand risks and benefits.
"We've actually asked the Treasury, you know, for a brief there," Hill said. He told interviewers the committee has held roundtables with the private sector and users, and he expects further work this year including public hearings.
Hill referenced private-sector comments praising AI ‘‘partners’’ such as Claude and said firms want to identify and manage any risks associated with products like Mythos. He advocated a measured approach that uses regulatory sandboxes and close supervision to let compliance, regulators and private firms evaluate effects before broad deployment.
The chair did not announce a formal hearing schedule during the segment but said the committee's work on AI compliance and oversight will continue.
