Maywood authorizes up to $25,000 for Madison Street traffic‑signal design study

Village Engineer Bill Peterhansen explained that 5th Avenue and 17th Avenue are under Illinois Department of Transportation jurisdiction, which would require further IDOT coordination, and that 9th Avenue is locally controlled and therefore a standard intersection design study is recommended. Peterhansen recommended starting with traffic counts and reviewing accident data from the police department to determine whether a signal is warranted.
Trustees approved the recommendation (motion by A. Sanchez; second by H. Yarbrough) and directed staff to proceed with the design study under the stated budget limits; no timeline for completion was provided in the minutes.
