Mona City adopts 2024 wildland-urban interface code to regulate wildfire risk

The Mona City Council moved to adopt Ordinance 2026-8 to incorporate the 2024 edition of the International Wildland-Urban Interface Code (IWUIC) as the city's WUI code.
The ordinance adopts the International Code Council's 2024 IWUIC as filed in the city recorder's office and incorporates an officially adopted Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) boundary map (Appendix A) for Mona City. The code's adoption is intended to regulate mitigation of hazards from fire intrusion originating in wildland areas, as well as fires that spread from adjacent structures to wildland fuels.
Ordinance 2026-8 provides for issuance of permits and collection of applicable fees, repeals prior conflicting ordinances, and contains standard severability and savings clauses. The city recorder is directed to publish the ordinance in accordance with Utah state law. The ordinance text states it takes effect immediately after final passage.
