Greeley County adopts 2015–16 budget and lowers proposed tax rate

On Aug. 25, 2015 the Greeley County Board of Commissioners held the required public hearing on the proposed 2015–2016 county budget and tax request. County officials presented the proposed property tax request of $1,747,460 and a projected tax rate of 0.199895, which the minutes note is lower than the 2014–15 rate of 0.244765. No members of the public testified for or against the proposal.
After reviewing departmental requests and preliminary levy allocations, the board approved the advertised budget and voted to exceed the lid by an additional 1% growth for the fiscal year 2015–2016. The board also reviewed preliminary levy requests from several local districts and organizations and finalized the budget documents for filing.
County staff and the board cited ongoing efforts to limit property tax rates while meeting county obligations; the budget now proceeds to implementation and statutorily required filings.
