She announced a college-and-career night scheduled for April 21 at Mira Costa CollegeSan Elijo campus. Johnson said the event is sponsored by the district and partnered with the San Dieguito Union High School District and the Western Association of College Admissions Counselors to help students and families explore postsecondary options.
Johnson outlined other student activities: SAGES ASB is running a March Madness tournament, a talent show and events in preparation for prom; the VAPA department will present a music-collage concert showcasing student musical acts; and Bobcat seniors will present their Genius Project Forum on April 24.
She also described recent inclusive events at Carlsbad High School: a Best Buddies gathering that brought special-education students from districts across San Diego together, and a Daybreak Church event hosted at the high school that Johnson said drew more than 1,000 people for games, food and worship.
Johnson closed by noting that spring athletics were wrapping up, with teams such as boys tennis, golf and lacrosse finishing their seasons. The report was delivered for information; the board did not take any formal action on the items Johnson listed.
