Council approves $7,259 irrigation installation for golf course clubhouse landscaping

The Little Falls City Council on Oct. 6 approved a $7,259 irrigation contract with local Greenbridge Irrigation for landscaping around the recently built clubhouse retaining walls.
Staff presented two quotations: Evergreen Lawn ($9,049) and Greenbridge Irrigation ($7,259). Staff recommended the local Greenbridge bid, noting it saves the city about $1,790 and that the work was budgeted as part of the $2.4 million clubhouse project. “We are actually recommending the local from Greenbridge Irrigation in the amount of $7,259,” the city staff member said.
Council members asked whether the river pump approach required DNR permitting; staff said the proposed pump volume falls under DNR thresholds and that, if needed, city water could be used as a backup. Council also discussed drought-tolerant plantings and the new superintendent role’s ability to oversee plantings; the irrigation scope was limited to installing water to newly planted tiers, not the plantings themselves.
Council approved the recommended contract by voice vote. Staff said the cost will be charged to the clubhouse project and described this work as one of the final pieces to complete the clubhouse landscaping.
