Commission rezones Ohiowa lots to I-2 for Farmers Cooperative bin site
Summary
On Dec. 15, 2014 the Fillmore County Planning Commission approved rezoning three lots in Ohiowa from R-2 Residential to I-2 Heavy Industrial to allow Farmers Cooperative to build an initial two-bin site (with possible expansion). The cooperative had purchased the lots from the Village of Ohiowa.
The Fillmore County Planning Commission voted on Dec. 15, 2014 to change zoning for Lots 5–7, Block 7, Original Town Ohiowa from R-2 Residential to I-2 Heavy Industrial to permit a Farmers Cooperative bin site.
Meeting minutes state Farmers Cooperative purchased the lots from the Village and intends to begin with two bins on the site (with the eventual goal of up to three). Commissioners noted there are no livable homes within one block of the proposed site. The hearing closed and the motion to rezone carried on a 5–0 roll call vote (Ayes: Stuckey, Most, Girmus, Elznic, Harre).
