The Board of Public Works voted April 14 to approve County, Veil and Ferguson for purchases of stormwater materials during the 2026 construction season. Chair moved the approval and the motion passed after members voted "Aye."
Staff member Vesna, who led the procurement review, told the board the quotes had been opened at the prior meeting and summarized the results: "When it comes to concrete structures, we recommend County. They're the only 1 that submitted prices for all those structures. When it comes to the erosion control materials, we recommend Veil. Again, they were the only 1 that submitted any prices. For the rest of it, the Kretex rings, HDPE, the castings, all that stuff, the prices were almost identical between Ferguson and First Water Works...So we would recommend Ferguson. We have a long history of buying these products from them and just comfortable continuing to work with them."
The board did not expand on the award details at the meeting; the Chair moved the recommendation into a formal motion to approve the three vendors for the 2026 season, and members voted in favor. The record shows staff will proceed with purchases under those vendor recommendations for the upcoming construction season.
The procurement follows the board’s opening of quotes at its previous meeting; staff indicated only one bidder provided prices for some item categories and that unit prices for other items were essentially the same between the top bidders. There was no further debate recorded and the board did not specify contract amounts or multi-year terms at the meeting.
Next steps: staff will execute purchases consistent with the approved vendor vendors list and bring any required contract documents back to the board if formal contracting is needed.
