At its March 4 meeting, the Carter County Board of Commissioners opened bids for bridge I‑beams and awarded the contract, and it approved a construction agreement for the Boys Road shop.
Bids for two 25‑foot bridge I‑beams advertised in the Eagle were opened: Joe Schmidt bid $300 and Jim Hendricks bid $1,100. Commissioner (Speaker 4) moved to accept the $1,100 bid from Jim Hendricks; Speaker 2 seconded the motion and the board approved the award to Hendricks with no public comment.
Separately, Speaker 2 moved that the board sign the construction contract between Carter County and R and R Taylor Construction Inc. for the Boys Road shop and to approve commission proceedings dated 03/04/2026. The motion was moved, seconded, and carried.
Board members asked routine questions about the I‑beams’ size and condition and confirmed procurement formalities; no protests or public comments were recorded on either item.
Next steps: county staff will coordinate with the successful bidders and the contractor to finalize delivery, timelines and contract execution details.
