Cherokee County TDA approves 2025–2026 budget and a package of tourism expenditures

The Cherokee County Tourism Development Authority approved its 2025–2026 fiscal year budget and a series of tourism-related expenditures during a June 9 meeting at the Murphy Visitor Center.
The board, chaired by Sandra Daley, voted unanimously to adopt the budget presented by Director Casey Kerr. Board members present were Sandra Daley (Chair), Sherry McGreggory (board member), Cal Stiles (board member), Joan Posey Nuemann (board member), Steve Dickey (board member) and Hank Parker Jr. (board member).
In addition to the budget, the TDA approved several line-item expenditures that the board characterized as routine tourism promotion and operations costs. Motions passed unanimously included a $2,000 contribution for the Scenic Circle reprint; authorization to spend up to $4,185 for building insurance and liability coverage for the coming fiscal year; and continuation of the National Parks Trips program at the same rate of $4,995 for 2025–2026.
The board also approved smaller promotional and publishing expenditures. Members authorized 1,000 reprinted brochures for the Cherokee County Historical Museum from Digital Creations at a cost of $348 plus tax, and an $800 allocation for a Cherokee County media display at the Regional Visitor Center.
The TDA approved funding of $8,925 for the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce's Crowdrift tourism software program and set mileage reimbursement for Chamber tourism promotion/restock trips to Harrah's Casino at $0.35 per mile, estimated to total $182 for the year. The motion to fund Crowdrift and the mileage rate was moved by Cal Stiles and seconded by Joan Posey Nuemann.
All motions listed on the agenda were approved unanimously. The board adjourned following the approvals.
