Chattahoochee County sets 2026 qualifying fees for county commission and school board

The Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution on Jan. 26 setting qualifying fees for the 2026 local elections in accordance with O.C.G.A. § 21-2-131.
The board set the qualifying fee for County Commissioner at $362 and for County Board of Education member at $72. Qualifying dates were set to begin Monday, March 2, 2026, at 9 a.m. and to end Friday, March 6, 2026, at noon. The County Clerk was authorized to publish the fee schedule as required by state law.
Why it matters: Under state statute qualifying fees must be fixed and published by Feb. 1 of an election year. The fees determine the cost for candidates to file for county offices and are a routine but legally required administrative action.
What’s next: The county clerk will publish the qualifying-fee schedule and staff will accept qualifying filings during the scheduled window in March.
