Trey Davis, chief information officer, told the board the district must submit the E-rate application this March for projects that would begin July 1 in FY27 to secure the program’s discounts; E-rate typically provides large discounts for eligible school connectivity projects. Davis said long-term district work has generated about $240 million in discounts since the program’s inception, averaging more than $8 million per year.
Boardmembers asked for clarity on timing and whether some listed items (for example, cabling for the Bassoon Admin building) were premature; staff explained that projects listed for FY27 must be included now to receive E-rate funding and that some projects are scheduled out in later fiscal years.
The item passed unanimously.
