The Santa Rosa County School Board unanimously approved a staff recommendation Dec. 11 to appoint Katie Moretz as assistant principal at Navarre High School, effective Jan. 5, 2026.
Staff cited an 11‑candidate search narrowed to three finalists and recommended Moretz based on interview performance and experience. "She has served as a math teacher, an interventionist, and most recently as a dean at Navarre High School," a staff member said during the recommendation.
Moretz, introduced by staff during the meeting, thanked the board and named colleagues and family members who supported her candidacy. The board also noted that Casey Linfelder will transition to serve as principal at Soundside High School starting Jan. 5, creating the vacancy that Moretz will fill.
The motion to approve Moretz's appointment was moved, seconded and passed unanimously.
