South Barrington board approves deputy chief appointment, grant-writing contract and police department repairs

The Village of South Barrington Board of Trustees on July 14, 2022 approved a slate of routine personnel and service actions, including concurring in the conditional appointment of Deputy Chief Michael Garrison to the police department and authorizing contracts for grant writing and mechanical repairs.
Trustee Stephen Guranovich moved and Trustee Dr. Hina Patel seconded a resolution concurring in the appointment and issuance of a conditional letter of employment for Deputy Chief Michael Garrison; the motion carried on a roll call vote with four ayes and three trustees absent. The minutes do not record additional discussion about the appointment.
The board also authorized a professional services agreement with Administrative Consulting Specialists, LLC for grant-writing services and accepted a proposal from EHMS Mechanical Service to address airflow problems in the police department building. Both motions were moved by Trustee Joseph Abbate and seconded by Trustee Dr. Hina Patel; roll call votes recorded four ayes and three absences.
Financial business included approval of Warrant Run #1 for $88,641.83 and Warrant Run #2 for $222,236.36, which the board approved by recorded votes of four ayes and three absences. The board accepted the Statement of Revenues and Expenditures and the Detailed Balance Sheet as of June 30, 2022.
During committee reports the board voted to refer proposed text amendments to the zoning regulations regarding recreational vehicles to the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals. Police Chief Thomas Roman presented and the board approved updated Rules and Regulations for the Board of Police Commissioners as amended through July 14, 2022.
