Kankakee SD 111 on Jan. 28 launched ‘Project Elevate Excellence,’ a multi‑year strategic planning initiative intended to set district priorities, metrics and implementation steps.
An administrative lead described the project as a roadmap to identify district goals, how the district will achieve them and how it will measure progress. The district said it will co‑pilot the process (superintendent leadership and an administrative co‑lead) and named the consulting partner Performance Back to facilitate stakeholder engagement, gather external perspectives and help align priorities.
Performance Back representatives Kate Hedges (director of operations) and Dr. James Crawford (senior advisor) provided an overview of the firm’s approach, saying the plan emphasizes aligned stakeholder voice, a diverse core planning team (including students), and a mix of in‑person and virtual sessions. They described a kickoff schedule with multi‑day core planning sessions and additional virtual/onsite meetings.
Board members asked about participation and invited trustees to join the core planning team or alignment teams; staff said one or more board members already are part of alignment teams and invited additional participation.
Next steps: the district will proceed with scheduled core planning sessions and report progress to the board as the planning work advances.
