Mechanicsburg Area School District board approves treasurer's report, personnel and expulsions in unanimous votes

The Mechanicsburg Area School District Board of Directors approved a package of routine business items — including a detailed treasurer’s report, committee and personnel recommendations, procurement authorization and the expulsion of three students — during its Jan. 13 meeting, with each motion recorded as approved by unanimous roll call.
Miss Morgan presented the treasurer’s report and attachments for December, detailing multiple payment schedules: general fund checks #72381–72584 (reported as $1,881,973.28), electronic payments of $7,794,650.19, general fund payables checks #72585–72605 totaling $304,379.19, Series of 2024 construction fund checks #235–239 totaling $394,599.23, and capital reserve checks #1977–1980 totaling $67,088.49. "I'd like to ask the board to approve the treasurer's report as per the attachments," Miss Morgan said; the board approved the report with no objections.
The board also unanimously approved the winter and spring recreation staff appointments as presented, revisions to the 2026–27 high school core course registration booklet, and the 2026–27 instructional calendar. Board members seconded motions and the secretary recorded each vote as unanimous.
On procurement, the board authorized the administration to bid for or participate in joint purchasing cooperatives for supplies and equipment for the 2026–27 school year. Mr. Longwell explained the measure is to comply with state and federal procurement requirements and to allow use of cooperative purchasing where appropriate.
On personnel the board approved the personnel report as presented. For student discipline, Mister Frenzel moved to adopt agreements and waivers of hearing and to expel three students under the terms presented; the board directed the superintendent to place the agreements in the students' education records and implement the expulsions. The motions described the students only as Student E (2025–26), Student F (2025–26) and Student G (2025–26), each with one-calendar-year terms beginning on dates listed in the motion.
Each formal action was moved and seconded on the record and recorded by the board secretary as a unanimous roll-call vote. The meeting closed after a brief second public-comment period during which no one addressed the board.
