Public works staff told the council on March 18 that preparations for the new public works shop are underway, including electrical work, a pre-bid meeting for construction, and plans to put down gravel and line the new driveway. Staff said donated turf has been installed at parks and they are awaiting a fuel card for the new bus; tennis courts have been roped off to allow curing.
During public comment a resident raised a drainage complaint: a culvert under a neighbor’s driveway on Mildred (Johnson) Street is clogged and was reported to have been damaged during prior street repairs. The resident said water bubbled up during the recent storm and asked the city to inspect and repair the culvert; staff agreed to follow up and review the location at the planned meeting time.
Public works also noted it intends to meet contractors Friday to begin gravel and parking work at the new shop and will coordinate follow-up with the resident about the culvert.
