Palmyra board approves RFP for audit services; committee items and personnel moves advance

The Palmyra School Board approved a motion to release a request for proposal (RFP) for audit services during its March 26 meeting.
Mr. Steinmetz, reporting for the finance committee, said members reviewed department budget presentations for 2026-27 and the PA state revenue report. "We had a motion to approve the request for the proposal RFP for audit services," Mrs. Martin said; the motion received a second and the chair declared the motion carried.
The board also moved to approve Staffing & Administration committee consent items after Ms. Gilligan reported that the committee held first readings of Policy 8.15 (acceptable use) and Policy 8.15.1 (artificial intelligence), and reviewed the Captain Hershey School longitudinal study. The staffing motion was seconded by Mr. Lauterbrunn.
On personnel, the board announced multiple hires and transfers and congratulated Paul Steigerwald on his upcoming retirement after 25 years at Palmyra Area High School and 37 total years in education. The board also discussed internal promotions including Marquise Jones moving from elementary assistant roles to high-school assistant principal and plans to advertise for an elementary assistant-principal vacancy.
Board members thanked HR staff for quickly filling positions. The personnel and committee consent items were presented together; the meeting record shows voice votes and chair declarations of approval for the motions discussed.
