The Greeley County Board of Commissioners opened its 2013 organizational proceedings on Jan. 8. County Clerk Mindy Grossart, acting as temporary chair, called for nominations. Michael Goldfish nominated Leo F. Reilly as chairman and Doug Wrede nominated Michael Goldfish as vice‑chair; votes were recorded with standard roll calls and Reilly thanked the board after his election. The board also set regular meeting dates (second and last Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m.), designated the Greeley Citizen as the official county newspaper for 2013 and approved a roster of county board and agency appointments.
The board confirmed a series of departmental appointments by motion, including Steve Rasmussen as County Surveyor; Don Roy as Highway Superintendent and Emergency Manager; Walter Bjorklund as Weed Superintendent; and Franz Trumler as Planning & Zoning Administrator (with a $25 monthly phone reimbursement). The board also established administrative policies on insurer filings, contractor insurance requirements, salary/resolution references, holidays and leave for road employees and a county burial policy.
Other routine items handled at organization included approval of authorized banks and depositories for county funds and authorization for the treasurer to invest idle funds appropriately.
