The Greeley County Board of Commissioners held a public budget hearing in September 2013 and adopted the 2013–2014 county budget. County officials and CPA Rick Martinsen reviewed preliminary requests and county financials; the board then set the county property tax request at $1,781,753 and a county tax rate of 0.314546. Although the overall budget increased by $77,592 from the prior fiscal year, the calculated county tax rate declined from 0.350076 to 0.314546 due to valuation and levy calculations discussed at the hearing.
At the hearing the board explained the statute‑required public process for setting the tax request and confirmed the board’s vote to exceed the lid by 1% growth for the fiscal year. Public comments were accepted during the advertised hearing. The county clerk and CPA provided supporting schedules and the board recorded the formal motion to adopt the budget and tax request.
The board noted that the full budget document and supporting financial schedules are available through the county clerk’s office.
