The Snyder City Council approved a $10,000 contribution to the Snyder Chamber of Commerce to help underwrite the Fourth of July fireworks display. Sandra Sonny Smith, speaking for the Chamber, said the show will cost $28,800 this year and that the Chamber is requesting the $10,000 contribution "to keep this event accessible for our families and encourage community pride and support local businesses and tourism." The council voted unanimously to fund the request.
Smith also presented the Chamber’s quarterly report for Oct.–Dec. 2025, which included a reported ending HOT fund balance of $169,869.86 and a net income figure for the period. She summarized receipts from local hotels and described the travel-and-tourism account used for advertising and billboard subscriptions.
Councilors asked a few operational questions about the carnival associated with the event and noted vendor availability is limited on July 4; the Chamber said it is contacting repeat vendors. The funding decision was taken as part of the consent/new-business agenda and passed without dissent.
