Snyder — The Snyder City Council approved an interlocal agreement under which Scurry County emergency management funds will purchase hazmat supplies (suits, boots, gloves) to be maintained at the Snyder Fire Department.
Agency official (S3) described the arrangement: county funds purchase the equipment, the city will keep and maintain the suits at the fire station, and the department has the capability to perform required annual suit testing. S3 said the previous supplies were out of date and not safe to use. S3 also explained that if supplies are used on incidents covered by insurance, the city will bill the insurer for replacement.
Council members asked whether the county or the city was purchasing the equipment and whether there were any no-cost items; staff clarified the county is paying for the purchase and the city retains and maintains the equipment.
The council moved and seconded approval; the item passed on a recorded motion.
