Albert Gallatin Area School Board approves payments, accepts FY2025 single audit and confirms calendar and personnel actions

The Albert Gallatin Area School Board on March 18 authorized payment of previously accrued obligations and current-month bills, accepted the district's fiscal-year 2025 single audit and approved personnel and calendar items.
A motion by Paul Dunham, seconded by Eric Miller, accepted the treasurer's report including February 2026 tax collections and preliminary financial statements. The board then authorized payment of prior-month obligations totaling $3,471,027.29, current-month general fund bills of $1,081,915.47 and cafeteria fund bills of $97,155.58; Carl Planiczka moved the payment motion, with Miller seconding, and all members present voted in favor.
The board accepted the Single Audit Report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025 as prepared by Hosack, Specht, Muetzel & Wood LLP and approved the 2026-27 district calendar. The board also approved second reading of Policy 626 (Federal Fiscal Compliance ' Procurement'Federal Programs) and held first reading of Policy 201.1 (Early Admissions of Students).
Superintendent Christopher Pegg told the board it accepted the retirement of Denise Jarrett, a secondary instructor, effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year and publicly thanked her for 31 years of service. The board also approved paid leaves and retirement dates for cafeteria employees Barbara Duley and Louise Wesolowsky and granted other employee leaves and sabbatical extensions as part of a blanket personnel motion moved by Ryan Porupski and seconded by Dan Janesko.
The board approved several hires and position awards pending proper documentation. Those actions included hiring Bonita Floyd as a bus monitor, Beth Guty as an elementary intervention specialist at AL Wilson for the remainder of 2025-26, Don Stoner as a faculty musician for the spring musical, and appointing SFC John Skowyra to serve as the district JROTC Army instructor for the 2026-27 school term pending required paperwork and contract execution.
Administratively, the board granted facility-use requests for PTO and community groups, approved conference attendance for administrators (to be paid from federal funds) and approved a music instructor's conference attendance at a cost not to exceed $1,600. The board set its next regular meeting for April 15, 2026 at 7:25 p.m. and adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
The meeting record shows that an executive session was held from 6:31 p.m. to 7:18 p.m. for personnel matters and discussion of a potential legal claim; the public minutes note only the purpose and motions to enter and to resume the public meeting.
