The City of Medford Committee of the Whole on Feb. 9 moved to accept engineering firm Ayres & Associates' recommendation and award the 2026 capital-improvement contract to Switlick & Sons, Inc., as the lowest responsible bidder for a not-to-exceed $778,802.00.
Bids had been opened Jan. 29 for multiple elements: installation of water main and sanitary sewer on Billings Street, work along STH 64, a crossing of the Black River at Perkins Street and work at the wastewater treatment plant. Committee minutes list other bidders and amounts, including Earth, Inc. at $859,183.00 and Pember Companies, Inc. at $911,835.50, and note Ayres & Associates recommended the low bidder.
Clem Johnson moved and Dave J. Brandner seconded a motion to accept Ayres & Associates' recommendation and award the contract to Switlick & Sons as the lowest responsible bidder in an amount not to exceed $778,802.00. The motion carried unanimously.
Staff will proceed with contract execution per the city's procurement rules and return any required contract documents to the Common Council.
