The City of Medford Committee of the Whole on March 9 recommended that the Common Council approve several Public Works procurements and contract awards, voting unanimously on each item.
The committee recommended accepting a quote from Wheelers of Medford for a 2026 Chevy Silverado pickup at a total cost not to exceed $40,398.32; funds were identified from the DPW Construction Equipment Fund (account #43-56320-39410). The minutes note the city's current truck, a 2016 Ford F150, would be sold on Wisconsin Surplus.
Separately, the committee recommended accepting a quote from McCoy Construction and Forestry for a Metal Pless Prol248-20LE end‑loader plow blade at a cost not to exceed $44,500, with funding from the same DPW fund account. The minutes record that the city would retain the old plow as a backup.
Committee members also voted to recommend awarding the city's 2026 material and equipment bids as listed in the packet. The minutes list multiple successful bidders and unit rates (examples in the packet include Haas Sons, Inc. for concrete and rock products and Wood & Sons and Precision Dirtworks for backhoe and truck services); the packet spreadsheet contains full line-item results.
For street striping, the committee recommended accepting the low bid from Jensen Chip & Seal Coating at a cost not to exceed $13,875.40; funding was included in the 2026 General Fund Budget. Michael Bub moved and Ken Coyer seconded that motion, and it passed unanimously.
Motions for the truck, plow blade and bid awards were moved and seconded by committee members (motions recorded in the minutes) and each motion was recorded as carrying with 'All Aye.' The committee did not finalize council-level contract signatures; these recommendations are to be forwarded to the Common Council for final action where applicable.
