Board approves personnel changes and multiple coach hires; head baseball coach approved 5–4

The Albert Gallatin Area School Board approved a series of personnel actions and athletic staffing appointments at its Jan. 21 meeting.
On a blanket motion the board accepted resignations including Madisyn Flowers (Learning Support Instructor) and Heather Jacobson (Health Room Aide), approved intermittent FMLA for Chelsie Myers, Chrystal Roderick and Carole Whetzel, approved a nonpaid leave for aide Jessie Risha, rescinded a prior coaching hire, and hired Noelle Shaneman as a Speech Instructor. The blanket motion covering personnel items A–H passed; the minutes record that President Jeff Myers abstained on Item C only (the intermittent FMLA for Chelsie Myers).
The board approved multiple high school coaching hires on a blanket motion, including head girls softball (Makayla Munchinski), assistant girls softball (Larry Flowers), assistant track positions (Andy Miles; Joe Thomas; Sarah Rockwell), volunteer track (Mike Belt) and spring conditioning overseen by Drew Dindl.
A separate motion to hire Tony Watson as head boys baseball coach passed on a 5–4 vote. The minutes list the ayes as Dan Janesko, Carl Planiczka, Ryan Robinson, Eric Miller and Jeff Myers; the nays were Paul Dunham, Betty Moser, David Howard and Ryan Porupski. The motion was conditional on receipt of required documentation.
The board also approved middle school coach hires, spring musical sponsors, substitute additions, facility-use requests, WVU student interns and student nurses for clinical placements, travel for staff to two conferences (each not to exceed $1,000), and a lease agreement with the Private Industry Council of Westmoreland/Fayette for portions of the D. Ferd Swaney school building; those motions passed as recorded in the minutes.
