Albert Gallatin Area School Board approves large December and January payments

The Albert Gallatin Area School Board approved routine financial measures and large disbursements at its Jan. 21 meeting.
On a motion by Carl Planiczka and second by David Howard, the board accepted the treasurer’s report, which included December 2025 tax collections and preliminary financial statements. The board then authorized payment of December obligations: $2,179,441.83 for prior-month bills, utilities, insurance and contractual obligations; $526,929.59 in current general fund bills; and $66,379.25 in cafeteria fund bills.
Later the board granted permission to pay January obligations on a motion by Planiczka, seconded by Eric Miller: prior-month obligations $6,228,168.82; current general fund bills $2,824,606.72; and cafeteria fund bills $90,885.59. Board minutes state all members present voted in favor of both the December and January payment motions.
The board also accepted building principals’ activity account reports after a motion by David Howard and second by Eric Miller. Separately, a motion to provide financial support to three local public libraries (German Masontown $6,800; Smithfield $2,500; Point Marion $2,500; total $11,800) was tabled on a motion by Ryan Robinson and second by Eric Miller; no funding decision was made at the meeting.
The board voted on these items during its regular session after an executive session earlier in the evening; the meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m.
