City staff launch update to Bryan comprehensive plan; CPAC nominations expected in October

Senior Planner Katie Williams told the commission that the City of Bryan’s comprehensive‑plan update is underway: the contract with consultant Half Associates was approved by City Council on Sept. 9, the project kicked off Sept. 15, and consultants will make a site visit in October.
Williams said staff will begin soliciting interest in the comprehensive‑plan advisory committee (CPAC) and focus groups, that City Council will officially nominate CPAC members at its Oct. 14 meeting, and that the first CPAC meeting is planned for the week of Oct. 20. The project is in phase 1 of 5 and staff said they hope to have the plan adopted in 2026. Williams invited commission members and the public to participate in outreach events planned as the process proceeds.
Commissioners asked a few clarifying questions about representation on CPAC and noted coordination with other agenda items; staff said additional updates and a mid‑October/November briefing could appear on future agendas.
