At its meeting the Springfield Township Committee approved several resolutions and a payroll vote.
On the consent agenda the Committee approved multiple routine resolutions, then took up Resolution 2025-105, which authorizes settlement of 2022–2023 tax appeals for Short SH Club Village LLC (docket numbers cited). During consideration a committee member stated a need to recuse; the roll call recorded several "yes" votes and at least one abstention or recusal before the resolution was approved.
The Committee also adopted Resolution 2025-109, expressing support for the New Jersey Climate Superfund Act. In remarks supporting the resolution a committee member argued that large fossil-fuel corporations should help fund resiliency projects, citing costs from storms and local infrastructure needs. "...we need our fair share from the contributors of this and notably ExxonMobil, Shell, BP America," the member said during discussion.
On finance, the Committee voted to adopt payroll and invoices for March 12–25, 2025 in the amount of $1,630,374.82; the motion was seconded and approved by roll call.
None of these resolutions created binding local regulatory changes beyond the settlements and the Committee’s expressed support of state-level legislation; the climate resolution is an expression of support and does not itself create state law.
