Wayne County to review solar, wind ordinance materials; staff asked to balance property rights and road protections

Nichole Moore, director of Chariton Valley Planning and Development, emailed the board materials on solar and wind turbine ordinances. Supervisors said they do not want to infringe on property owners’ rights but want to set appropriate setback limits and protect county road infrastructure.
Auditor Michelle Dooley said she will forward the ordinance documents to Engineer Dillon Davenport for technical review and then to County Attorney Al Wilson to draft a proposed county ordinance for the supervisors to consider at a future meeting.
No public comments were filed on the matter at the July 8 meeting. The board did not vote on any ordinance language; this is a staff-directed review and drafting step.
