The Brainerd City Council voted to authorize staff to solicit bids for the city’s annual chip‑seal program, which covers streets resurfaced under the North Brainerd (2023) and South Brainerd (2024) projects.
Engineer Dean told the council staff "has put together a bid package for the annual seal coat, chip seal project" and that, "right now, with a 10% contingency, we're estimating around a 182,000." He said the capital plan had budgeted $195,000 for the work.
After staff presentation, the council moved, seconded and voted in favor of authorizing the solicitation. Chair called for the vote; multiple members said "Aye" and the motion carried.
The authorization directs staff to publish the bid package and return to the council with bids and a recommendation. No additional approvals or contract awards were made at the meeting.
