At the start of the March 19 meeting, the committee opened public participation and the clerk called one speaker, Anthony Bryant. Bryant, who identified himself as president of G Bryant Group Inc., used his 90 seconds to register opposition to certain agenda items he said were linked to the ports authority and other agencies.
Bryant said he attended related meetings and expressed concern that "agencies in our community" have for decades used certain authorities in ways that devalue young people and could be used to "undermine the opposition to you." He told the committee he and his organization would continue their work and had submitted a written comment that staff forwarded to the committee prior to the meeting.
The committee did not take substantive action in response to the comment during the meeting; staff noted the written comment had been circulated to members.
