Chattahoochee County approves engineers for sewer and SEID grants and a yearlong zoning assistance contract

At its Jan. 6 regular meeting and in related work-session documents, the Chattahoochee County Board of Commissioners approved engineering firms to support grant applications and accepted a regional planning contract.
The board voted to retain Barge Design as the engineer for an EDA/SEWER grant and to retain EMC for the SCRC SEID grant; both motions passed by unanimous vote. Commissioners also voted to accept a planning and zoning technical assistance contract with the River Valley Regional Commission (RVRC) to provide ordinance review, planning commission support and map maintenance at an estimated $6,000 annually for July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026.
Supporting evaluation materials included RFQ and SEID scoring sheets and comparative notes. The documents note that Moon Meeks & Associates charges a $6,000 fee for a preliminary engineering report and a 17% engineering fee on construction, while EMC’s proposal indicated a 9% engineering fee and no preliminary report charge. River Valley Regional Commission materials also provided guidance on local evaluation committees and sample procurement motion language required for DCA compliance.
Commissioners said selecting engineers is a preparatory step needed to pursue federal/state grant funding for infrastructure projects. The RVRC contract, which the board approved, is intended to provide recurring technical support to local officials and planning bodies.
Next steps: selected firms will assist the county with preparing and submitting grant applications and with required engineering reports; RVRC will begin technical assistance under the agreed annual fee and term.
